DUBAI: Live events are coming back to the UAE.
British award-winning comedian Jimmy Carr will perform two shows in August as the country eases coronavirus restrictions surrounding travel and gatherings.
The gigs, which are set to take place at Dubai’s World Trade Centre on Aug. 13 and 14, are part of Dubai Summer Surprises – the city’s shopping and entertainment festival now in its 23rd year.
The 47-year-old writer, who is also a TV presenter, took to twitter to express his excitement.
“Look forward to taking my tour to Dubai next month,” he wrote. “I’ll be telling terribly funny jokes in the ‘Terribly Funny’ show as part of Dubai Summer Surprises – not sure if 2020 needs more surprises but we’re doing it.”
Tickets for Carr’s first Dubai shows will go on sale next week.
The “8 out of 10 Cats” star, known for his dark sense of humor and distinctive laugh, started his career in comedy in 2000. The stand-up comedian now performs to sell-out crowds around the world.
He has a number of awards under his belt, from British Comedy Award for the Best Live Stand-Up to LAFTA Awards for Funniest Man and Best Stand Up.
In 2015, Carr was the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up deal with streaming platform Netflix.
