RIYADH: Prince Mohammed bin Fahd University (PMU) has been ranked fifth in the list of annual tables for the Nature Index 2020, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The index specializes in statistical research outputs for universities and research centers during the period from Jan. 2019 to Dec. 31, 2019.
This classification takes into account the number of published high-quality studies as a percentage of the total output of the academic institution in the field of natural sciences, rather than relying on the number of studies only. It reveals a different group of leading academic institutions in the world.

PMU’s vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Faisal bin Yousef Al-Enizi, said that the university’s achievement was a qualitative addition to its past accomplishments, including ranking among the best 1,000 universities in the world and the world’s top 150 newly built universities, according to QS World rankings.
Al-Anezi recently signed a partnership agreement with UNESCO officials in France for cooperation in the fields of research, education and youth development.

He said the agreement was an extension of discussions between the two parties to enhance PMU’s academic and scientific position ahead of signing an agreement to establish a UNESCO chair for future studies in September. He said that the university was one of the first institutions in the Arab world to create such a position with UNESCO.
