DUBAI: It’s almost here: The footwear collaboration we’ve all been waiting for. On Tuesday, singer-turned-entrepreneur Rihanna teased the limited edition Fenty x Amina Muaddi footwear capsule collection, and revealed that it is set to drop on July 15 online.
“Eiffel Tower who?! Next @fenty release is all about... SHOES ! Designed with @aminamuaddi Y’all ready? Dropping July 15th on FENTY.com,” wrote the “Wild Thoughts” hitmaker on Instagram, alongside a campaign photo of strappy white sandals laced up to the calf with metallic, sky high heels.
On Monday, the duo posted a coordinated teaser on their Instagram accounts to preview the news. Both posts featured the same shot of the Barbados-born businesswoman and part-Jordanian designer poring over designs for their new project.
The caption for the Fenty post read: “All for the shoes. Our CEO and Artistic Director @badgalriri has been working with cult shoe designer @aminamuaddi on a limited edition footwear release – landing next week July 15th! Get ready!”
Muaddi wrote: “It’s been an immense pleasure developing this shoe drop for @fenty & @badgalriri! I hope you like it as much as we do! Available on July 15th at fenty.com.”
The Romanian-Jordanian designer also gave a shoutout to Rihanna and Fenty stylist and consultant Jahleel Weaver, writing “A special thank you to @illjahjah for coping with us.”
Multi-hyphenate Rihanna tapped Muaddi to design a collection of shoes for her luxury maison Fenty back in December, the Romanian-Jordanian designer revealed in an interview with Footwear News.
The news wasn’t all that surprising, considering that the singer-turned-designer has been a longtime fan of Muaddi’s glitzy footwear with its signature flared heels.
The footwear designer’s eye-catching shoes were also previously featured in Rihanna's Savage x Fenty show during New York Fashion Week.
According to an interview with British Vogue, Rihanna came by Muaddi’s shoes after her long-time stylist Jahleel Weaver introduced her to early prototypes. “But then she bought a few pairs herself via her personal shopper. She’s such a nice person. She sent me some Fenty clothes when she launched her own label – I feel amazing when I’m wearing them. There’s that swagger, you feel like you are channeling Rihanna,” she stated.
The singer and beauty mogul would go on to be spotted wearing Muaddi’s designs on multiple occasions, including during a trip to Barbados where she accessorized a long, green sweater dress from Jacquemus with a pair of strappy sandals by Amina Muaddi.
The designer launched her eponymous footwear line in August 2018, approximately one year after departing from her role as co-founder and creative director of luxury footwear label Oscar Tiye.
The Fenty x Amina Muaddi capsule will be available for purchase on Fenty.com on July 15. Our tip: Don’t forget to set an alarm – Muaddi’s covetable heels are known to sell out within seconds.
