ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Monday it strongly condemned missile and unmanned aerial vehicle attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles and six drones fired by Houthi militia toward Saudi Arabia on Sunday night, the Arab Coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government said early Monday.

“The successful interception of the ballistic missiles and bomb-laden unmanned aerial vehicles by the Joint Coalition Forces prevented loss of innocent lives and is commendable,” the foreign office said. “Pakistan reiterates its full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.”

The Houthis have for the past five years targeted various civilian areas and industrial sites in the Saudi Kingdom. Among these were the airport in Riyadh, an oil refinery in the Eastern Province, various targets in western regions of Najran, Jazan and Asir, as well as the holy city of Makkah.
