LONDON: Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan condemned on Monday what he called “subversive” interventions in the Middle East.

Prince Faisal was speaking during the virtual Arab-Chinese ministerial meeting and added that Saudi Arabia emphasizes the “unity, sovereignty and integrity” of Arab lands and non-interference in their internal affairs, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He also said Saudi Arabia would not accept any threats to the stability of the region.

“The Kingdom condemns regional interventions in the internal affairs of Arab countries, those interventions play a subversive role by supporting armed terrorist militias and fanning sectarian and ethnic divisions, and these interventions require a serious stand by the international community,” he said.

Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries have repeatedly accused Iran of carrying out these acts.

During the meeting, the foreign minister also reiterated Arab countries’ support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and the One-China principle, and their appreciation for the Chinese position of support for the rights of the Palestinian people, and the Arab peace initiative and the two-state solution.

Prince Faisal praised relations between Saudi Arabia and China, noting that China is the largest trading partner of the Kingdom and that China represents 13 percent of the Kingdom’s total exports and 15 percent of imports.

He said the virtual meeting was a step toward strengthening Arab-Chinese cooperation in various fields, saying: “We will soon seek to crown this success by holding an Arab-Chinese summit to be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
