RIYADH: The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has renewed its reminder to manufacturers and suppliers of the imminent date for committing to the Saudi Quality Mark on electrical connections products that are manufactured locally or imported, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
This is a prerequisite to allow their circulation in the Saudi market, SASO said, adding that the mark would be mandatory as of Aug. 7, 2020. The measure is a continuation of the organization’s efforts to enhance procedures for raising safety and quality rates in products traded in the market, according to SASO.
It said that mandating the quality mark aimed to raise the level of technical requirements for connections related to combustion and refraction resistance, as well as heat tolerance under the approved standard specifications.
SASO called upon all manufacturers and suppliers to apply for a quality mark for electrical connections products on its official website: www.saso.gov.sa.
SASO announced through its website, social media accounts and various media about the decision of its board of directors to raise the level of mandatory matching procedures on electrical connections products, and to commit to its conformity — which is to obtain the Saudi Quality Mark or its equivalent marks recognized in the Kingdom six months after the publication of the decision in the official gazette.
The decision was published in the official gazette on Feb. 7, 2020.
