Khalid Hashim Al-Dabbagh is the newly appointed chairman of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), succeeding Abdul Aziz Saleh Aljarbou.
Al-Dabbagh has also served as senior vice president of finance, strategy and development at Saudi Aramco since September 2018.
Al-Dabbagh has substantial experience at both local and international level, as he served and chaired many boards in several renowned companies such as Showa Shell in Japan, Arlanxeo in the Netherlands, and Aramco Trading Co.
At Aramco, he held a number of leading positions including that of financial controller between 2012 and 2018, and treasurer between 2010 and 2012. In addition, he was also executive director of sales and marketing, as well as of joint venture development support and corporate planning, between 2006 and 2010.
Furthermore, he has held other key positions at Saudi Aramco-owned companies in the UK, Japan, and the US.
Al-Dabbagh is one of the governors at the Gulf Cooperation Council Board Directors Institute, a nonprofit organization founded by SABIC in 2007 to promote professional standards of corporate governance, compliance, and professional directorship among board directors of different organizations.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Toledo in Ohio, US, and has also completed a number of executive leadership programs including the senior executive program at the London Business School.
