By now, most of us know that celebrities Shakira, DJ Khaled and Salma Hayek are of Arab descent. But, these six stars might surprise you with their Arabic roots.

  • Ariana Grande

    The pop superstar seems to have Algerian or Moroccan roots. In 2014, she posted on Facebook that she had just found out her grandparents are heavily Greek and part North African. 

  • Jerry Seinfeld

    American comedian, known for playing a semi-fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom Seinfeld, is part Arab. His mother is half Syrian.  

  • David Guetta

    The French born DJ, record producer and songwriter’s father hails from a Moroccan family.

  • Steve Jobs

    The late Apple CEO Steve Jobs was born into an Arab Muslim household. His father was Syrian. The self-made billionaire was adopted by an American couple when he was a baby.

    The “Avatar” actress was born to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother. But, she confirmed in an interview that she is also part Lebanese from her mother’s side.
