ALKHOBAR: Eastern Province municipality has set up 12 points of sale (POS) at the first fruit and vegetable food truck market in Alkhobar as part of precautionary measures to prevent gatherings in shops.
The municipality of Alkhobar launched the initiative to enable customers to shop safely from their vehicles. The market will open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Mohammed Al-Sifyan, spokesman for the Eastern Province municipality, said that the food truck market was established under the directives of the Eastern Province Emirate to set up a number of temporary markets to ensure social distancing as the country is in its second phase of safely returning to normal life.
“These markets help prevent gatherings in the vegetable and fruit markets, while allowing citizens to get their daily needs and necessary supplies,” Al-Sifyan said.
The mayor of Alkhobar, Sultan bin Hamid Al Zaidi, said that the market covered an area of 6,500 square meters at the Al-Iskan park, south of Alkhobar. “The sales facilities inside the market were named after different fruits,” he said.
