DUBAI: Renowned Egyptian comedian Hassan Hosny has reportedly died at the age of 88 in Cairo in the early hours of Saturday, according to Actor Azouz Adel, who is a member of the board of directors of Egypt's Representative Professions Syndicate. The comedian died from a heart attack.
“To God we belong and to him we shall return. May God have mercy on his family,” wrote Egyptian actress Amy Samir Ghanem on Instagram, paying tribute to one of the Arab world’s leading stars.
Hosny had more than 50 years’ experience in theatre and film making people laugh all over the world. Born in Cairo in 1931, the actor first discovered his talent when he was in school. He would go on to star in countless films, including 1996's “Nasser 56,” and 2000's “El Nazer.”
Egyptian actor Hassan El-Raddad took to Instagram to honor the late veteran actor, writing “Goodbye professor and a great artist. May Allah bless him with his mercy and may he enter heaven with the holy.”
