The UAE’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre launches remote cultural tours

DUBAI: In line with precautionary measures taken in the UAE to protect its society following the spread of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) has launched virtual cultural tours, allowing visitors to explore the mosque digitally.

The leading global cultural destination annually receives over six million worshippers and visitors of various cultures from all across the globe. . أطلق مركز جامع الشيخ زايد الكبير، جولات ثقافية -عن بعد-؛ بصفته أحد أهم الوجهات الثقافية والسياحية العالمية، إذ يقصده سنويا أكثر من 6 ملايين زائر من مختلف انحاء العالم بمختلف ثقافاتهم. وذلك من منطلق التزامه بالإجراءات الاحترازية المتخذة في الدولة لوقاية المجتمع؛ إثر انتشار "فايروس كورونا المستجد". ويتيح المركز لجميع المؤسسات الحكومية والخاصة فرصة التقدم بطلب جولات ثقافية حصرية -عن بعد- في رحاب الجامع، من خلال التسجيل في موقع المركز الإلكتروني، (www.szgmc.gov.ae). وكان أول الملتحقين بهذا النمط من الجولات، موظفي شركة الدار العقارية @aldar_properties، قدمها لهم -عن بعد-، أخصائي الجولات الثقافية لدى المركز، الذي أطلعهم على رسالة الجامع المتمثلة بالتسامح والتعايش،و على أبرز ملامح العمارة الإسلامية في الجامع. هذا وخصص المركز، لجميع زواره ومتابعي منصته على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي "الأنستغرام"، (szgmc_ae) في جميع انحاء العالم، جولات ثقافية، من خلال بث حي مباشر من الجامع، تُقدم يوم الثلاثاء باللغة العربية، ويوم السبت باللغة الإنجليزية، وذلك في تمام الساعة 11:00 صباحاً. . SZGMC launched remote cultural tours at the mosque, keeping with its status as a leading global cultural destination that annually receives over 6m visitors from all around the world. This is in line with the precautionary measures taken in the UAE to protect the community, after the spread of the " Novel Coronavirus." The Centre offers all government and private institutions an opportunity to register for exclusive remote cultural tours online on SZGMC’s website: www.szgmc.gov.ae The first to join such tours was a group from Aldar Real Estate @aldar_properties, who were briefed during a remote tour led by one of the Centre's Cultural Tour Specialist about the mosque's noble message of tolerance and coexistence, as well as the main features of Islamic architecture at the mosque. The live tours will take place on Tuesday in Arabic, and on Saturday in English, at 11:00 a.m., UAE time.

Meanwhile, remote tours are available for government and private institutions, who just need to register to enjoy an exclusive tour around the world's largest mosque guided by a member of the SZGMC team.

Since the coronavirus outbreak, many regional establishments and cultural attractions have been forced to close their doors and move online instead, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Dubai's Al-Serkal Avenue and the Egyptian Tourism Ministry, which allows art lovers to virtually tour some of the country’s famed museums and archaeological sites, such as the Menna Tomb, via the ministry’s website and social media platforms.
