DUBAI: Amid the grim global fight against the coronavirus pandemic are little victories worth celebrating, and for nine-year-old Hervie Emmanuel Magos - the UAE’s youngest intensive care patient to beat the virus – that recovery fell on his birthday week.
The Filipino child was admitted at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, March 22, along with his mother, Hermali, and father, Viterbo, and spent two weeks in intensive care before being moved to a regular ward on Saturday, April 11.

Hervie was cleared of coronavirus just in time for his ninth birthday, on April 1, and belatedly celebrated his special day right before he was discharged.
Hervie’s parents have also since recovered.
Anwar Gargash, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, shared a touching video on Twitter showing Sheikh Khalifa hospital staff clapping and cheering as Hervie walked out of his room and given the good news.

Gargash congratulated the boy for celebrating his ninth birthday and on ‘celebrating life.’
