DUBAI: Cooking seems to be one of the A-list set’s favorite activities while in lockdown. As more people continue to practice social distancing and restrict their movement in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus, many have decided to take up cooking as a stay-at-home hobby, including some of our favorite celebrities.

Among them is Dua Lipa, the British hitmaker of Albanian descent, who has been self-isolating in London with her partner, Palestinian-Dutch model Anwar Hadid.

On Sunday, Lipa posted a series of images on Instagram portraying how she’s been filling her days at home during lockdown. In addition to experimenting with nail art and binge-watching films such as Syrian war documentary “For Sama,” the certified hitmaker has also been mastering quarantine cuisine.

Lipa often takes to her Instagram Stories to share videos of herself taking on the role of sous chef for her boyfriend as he whips up delicious meals in the kitchen, however, this week, the “New Rules” singer decided to try her hand at cooking. Her food of choice? Makloubeh, a traditional Palestinian dish, which she learned from her partner’s father, real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid.

“I haven’t been counting ... but day 28471629 and we have a massive chocolate cake with two small spoons, a new mani every third day, making Palestinian maeloubah (thank you Mohamed Hadid for the recipe!) + next day’s leftovers were even better (sic),” the 24-year-old singer wrote on Instagram.

The real estate developer, who was born in Palestine in 1948 and immigrated to the US aged 14, shared his makloubeh recipe via an Instagram post over the weekend. DJ Khaled, who is also of Palestinian descent, commented on the post saying that it was his favorite dish.

It seems that Mohamed Hadid could also be the source of culinary enthusiasm for Anwar’s older sister Gigi, who has been filling a lot of her time cooking while self-isolating at her mother Yolanda Hadid’s Pennsylvania farm. This past week, the real estate developer made kafta belsanya, “Gigi” tabbouleh and rice on Instagram Live, while his daughter watched and learned from her own kitchen.
