DUBAI: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior launched new online services to boost social distancing and curb the spread of COVID-19, state news agency KUNA reported.
Residents can now transfer their visas from one passport to another, modify their names in English, and renew family and sponsor residencies on the ministry’s website, www.moi.gov.kw.
Residency renewals online will only be available to those whose visas expired in March, the statement added.
The government has imposed a partial curfew on March 22, which starts at 5 p.m., running until 4 a.m. due to non-compliance with instructions to stay at home.
The Civil Defense Committee will issue IDs for people working in vital sectors to allow them to move around during the curfew, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh said.
Those who break the curfew rules will be jailed for up to three years and fined $32,267, he added.
The total number of cases in Kuwait is 556, with one death and 99 recoveries.
