The Kuwaiti cosplayer — whose Instagram handle is picked up first place in the MEFCC contest for the second time with his spot-on recreation of Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning portrayal of the title character in “Joker,” winning the ‘Best Comic Book/Movie’ title.

Ewelina Kaczmarek

Wonder Woman

The Dubai-based Polish gamer and cosplayer came third in the same category for her portrayal of DC’s Amazonian heroine. The costume (and sword and shield) were created by Italian designer Sara Martin (aka Aylin Cosplay).

Sumi Cosplay and Dream Cherries

Roslina and Peach from ‘Super Smash Bros.’

This duo of femle cosplayers were announced as the UAE’s representatives at the World Cosplay Summit 2020 — scheduled for July in Nagoya, Japan — for their portrayals of princesses from Nintendo’s “Mario” series of games. It will be the second time Sumi Cosplay has represented the UAE at the world championships of cosplay.

Jackie Dib

Megurine Luka from ‘Vocaloid’

The Lebanese cosplayer created her own costume for her performance as one of the anime-style humanoid characters from voice-synthesizer software Vocaloid. She came second in the ‘Best Anime or Gaming’ category. “I’m so happy my love for Luka and Vocaloid shone through,” she wrote on Instagram. “Even if it’s not very popular in the region!”
