Mohammed Marghalani has been general manager at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company since January 2020.
Since attaining a leadership role in the Ritz-Carlton, he has focused on Saudization, taking the level from 21 percent to 38 percent, with half of the hotel’s executive positions occupied by Saudis. A total of 320 Saudis work in the hotel.
Marghalani acquired a diploma in hospitality and tourism in 2004 from Prince Sultan College for Tourism and Management in Abha. He attained his bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management in 2006 from Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland.
He obtained his MBA with concentration in hospitality administration and management from the prestigious Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in Switzerland.
Marghalani joined the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 2006 and worked in its “Manager In Training (MIT) Program” in the finance division until late 2009.
Later, he switched to the Fairmont-Raffles-Swissotel in July 2010 and joined the pre-opening team as group chief accountant till June 2011.
Marghalani then joined the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company during its pre-opening in June 2011, working as an assistant director of finance, financial controller, director of finance, and hotel manager before his latest appointment as general manager.
During his tenure the hotel has won awards such as the General Manager Excellence Award in 2012, Rising Star of The Year from Marriott International Inc. in 2013, and Hotel Team of The Year in 2018. His Twitter handle is @SaudiHotelier.
