6 New campaigns starring hijab-wearing models

With the modest fashion movement showing no signs of slowing down, fashion brands have made a point of being more inclusive in their casting, selecting hijab-wearing models to star in their most recent campaigns.

  • Ikram Abdi Omar for Outnet x Diane Von Furstenberg

    The Somali-British mode recently made history as the first hijab-wearing woman to be cast in a campaign for both Burberry and Diane Von Furstenberg.

  • Asha Mohamud for Lotto x Primark

    The London-based model first rose to prominence when she was chosen as the face of online retailer Asos’s modest fashion line. She would go on to appear in advertorials for the Lotto x Primark collaboration and Revolution Makeup.

  • Zahra Lari x Nike

    In December, Nike launched a range of modest swimwear and selected the UAE’s first Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari to star in the collection’s accompanying campaign images.

  • Kadija Diawara for Adidas Originals

    Adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams launched “Now Is Her Time” — a campaign aimed at female empowerment that starred a number of changemakers, including Egyptian-Malian model Kadija Diawara.

    The American-Somali model was just announced as the brand ambassador for luxury sustainable handbag label Bottle Toppers.
