DUBAI: King Salman and the Crown Prince expressed their “sorrow” over the death of Oman’s Sultan Qaboos, state news agency SPA said on Saturday.

The Kingdom’s royals said “Saudis share the sorrows of the Sultanate of Oman and its people.”

UAE
The UAE’s ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan also mourned the death of the Sultan and commended him for his dedication to serving the Omani people, state news agency WAM said.
“We express our sincere condolences to the Omani royal family and the people of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman on the death of the great late Sultan Qaboos, we express our full confidence that the people of Oman and its leadership will continue his blessed march serving the causes of the nation and advance the Arab joint action,” WAM quoted Al-Nahyan.
Kuwait
The Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also sent a message of condolences to Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said – the newly appointed sultan.
Al-Sabah described Sultan Qaboos as a brother, friend and a leader who dedicated his life to the causes of Arab and Islamic countries.

Iraq
Iraqi President Barham Saleh paid tribute to the late sultan's "moderation and wisdom and the ability to control differences in the interest of the development and progress of our countries and region".
Lebanon
"With loss of Sultan Qaboos, the Arab world loses a man of dialogue, wisdom and peace," Lebanon's President Michel Aoun wrote on Twitter, paying tribute to "a brother and a friend to Lebanon". Qaboos "always worked towards Arab unity and the strengthening of (Arab) solidarity -- in the face of the challenges that threaten our countries and peoples," he added.
Jordan
"We have lost a wise leader in my brother His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman," said a statement from King Abdullah II of Jordan on Twitter. He paid tribute to his role "defending Arab and Islamic causes".

Egypt
Qaboos was "a constant supporter of Arab and Islamic issues in various situations, and the pioneer of Oman's renaissance", wrote Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Palestine
"Our Arab and Islamic nation lost today, a leader and leader of its finest men," said Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. Qaboos "devoted his life to serving his country and people and the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations with wisdom and balance," he added.
India
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Twitter, saying Qaboos “was a visionary leader… who transformed Oman.”

Japan
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued a statement Saturday expressing his deep sorrow at the death of Sultan Qaboos, the statement said the death of the sultan, a leader with wisdom and insight, is a great loss to not only the people of Oman but also the international community.
He made great contributions to peace and stability in the Middle East, earning deep respect from other countries, Abe also said.
The Japanese leader is set to visit Oman on Tuesday during his five-day Middle East trip from Saturday.
US
US President Donald Trump called Qaboos a "friend to all" on Saturday while paying tribute to the late late sultan. Meanwhile, former US President George W. Bush said late leader Qaboos had been a "stable force in the Middle East."
UK
UK's prime minister Boris Johnson said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, Sultan of Oman. He was an exceptionally wise and respected leader who will be missed enormously. He will be remembered for his devotion to the development of Oman into a stable and prosperous nation, and as the father of the nation who sought to improve the lives of the Omani people.”
The Prime Minister also offered his thoughts and prayers on the occasion of the Sultan’s passing.
“I had the pleasure of meeting His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and was struck by his commitment to peace and understanding between nations and between faiths. He leaves a profound legacy, not only in Oman but across the region too,” added Johnson. “The UK is a proud friend and enduring partner of Oman, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Omani people.”
The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, also shared his "deep sadness" at the news of the sultan's passing on the official Kensington Palace Instagram account.
