Mohammed Al-Hakbani will assume responsibilities as the CEO of the Telecommunications Towers Co. (TAWAL) from Jan. 12.
In December 2018, the Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) announced the establishment of a new subsidiary, TAWAL, to provide leading integrated information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure in the Kingdom.
TAWAL was launched on April 1, 2019, after obtaining its license from the Communications and Information Technology Commission. TAWAL’s core activities involve designing, building and managing consolidated telecom infrastructure facilities that enable modern and modular connectivity.
Al-Hakbani graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from King Saud University in 2000. He followed it up with a master’s in computer engineering in 2008 from the same university. His career began at the Electric and Electronic Co. as an electronic design engineer from 2000 to 2003.
He then worked for the STC as a broadband network planning team leader until 2007. In 2008, he became the section manager for new service development at
the STC. A year later, he was promoted to director of operation support systems, managing the team that designs the applications that operate the STC network.
Al-Hakbani was the general manager of network services and solutions from 2011 to 2015, before his appointment as vice president of enterprise business operations. In 2018, he was promoted to vice president of enterprise sales. His Twitter handle is @m­­_alhakbani.
