Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Manzalawi, Saudi diplomat

Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Manzalawi has been the deputy permanent representative at Saudi Mission to the UN since 2017.

On Saturday, he attended a reception held by Ambassador Kelly Kraft, the permanent representative of the US to the UN, to mark the end of US’ presidency of the UN Security Council for December 2019. 

Al-Manzalawi thanked Kraft and all US delegates and stressed the Saudi delegation’s keenness to enhance bilateral ties in serving common interests of both countries. 

Prior to his current appointment, Al-Manzalawi served many years in different diplomatic positions around the world. He was the head of the Saudi Permanent Mission to the UN at the Human Rights Division in Geneva, Switzerland between 2012 and 2016. He was the US and Canada Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from October 2010 and November 2011. 

He also worked at some Saudi embassies between 2004 and 2010, such as the Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC as a member of the Political and Congressional Affairs Section. In addition, Al-Manzalawi was the head of the Political and Economic Affairs Division at the Saudi Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. 

He graduated from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in economics. Al-Manzalwi holds a master’s degree in public administration with management, leadership, and decision sciences from Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Massachusetts, US. He also obtained another master’s degree at George Washington University in International Policy and Practice, as well as a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Geneva School of Diplomacy in Geneva.
