Aqeeq Pond was once a principal stop on the ancient Darb Zubaidah pilgrimage route.

The large, square-shaped water station is located 45 kilometers northeast of the Daribbah antiquity site on the western slopes of Al-Aqeeq Valley in Madinah province.

The valley is home to numerous houses, castles, palaces and farms, and ancient ponds, canals and buildings can also be found on its eastern side.

The Darb Zubaidah route was a historic pathway for pilgrims and commercial convoys departing from Kufa in Iraq to Makkah,  Saudi Arabia.
