RIYADH: King Salman on Wednesday chaired the 50th meeting of the board of directors of the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah).

At the outset of the gathering, held in Riyadh, the monarch expressed his keenness on national history and appreciation of the foundation’s development of the curriculum for social studies in public education and national history at universities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

During discussions, the board issued a number of developmental decisions for the foundation’s work, including approving the transformation of the Saudi Digital History Center to the Saudi Center for Digital Content.

Board members also approved the implementation of the National Historical Studies Initiative under the supervision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the deputy chairman of Darah, which aims to develop scientific and academic programs and upgrade the activities of the Saudi Historical Society to increase its effectiveness in the scientific movement.

The board approved the list of regulations, human resources, financial regulations, contracts and procurement rules concluded by the committee formed by Darah and the Ministry of Finance. It also agreed the year’s final fiscal accounts of Darah and was briefed on the activities of the cultural department.
