ISLAMABAD: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’s armed forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, spoke with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan over the phone on Wednesday, according to the UAE embassy in Islamabad.
The two leaders discussed the “relations of mutual cooperation and ways to further enhance the relationship,” the tweet read.
Pakistan and the UAE enjoy close bilateral ties. The crown prince visited Pakistan in January this year to boost bilateral cooperation.
His visit was followed by two successive visits by Prime Minister Imran Khan to the UAE in 2018, to seek economic assistance to stave off a balance of payments crisis.
In December 2018, the UAE announced a $3 billion financial support package for Islamabad.
According to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, around 1.6 million expatriates live and work in the UAE and remit more than $4.5 billion to the country every year.
