ISLAMABAD: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have landed in Pakistan and Kate Middleton’s first look on ground pays homage to the late Princess Diana.

Dressed in a cowl neck ombre blue shirt (the cowl neck expertly mimicking a dupatta) paired with crisp trousers by Catherine Walker, a go-to brand of Prince William’s mother Princess Diana. The look was completed with the same Pakistani high-street brand Zeen earrings she wore to the October 2nd visit to Agha Khan Center in London.

Princess Diana, on her last trip to Pakistan in 1996, wore a similar ensemble in a similar shade of blue when visiting Shaukat Khanum Hospital as a guest of now Prime Minister Imran Khan and his former wife and close friend of Diana, Jemima Goldsmith.

Middleton has become a fashion icon since her wedding into the Royal family, with her outfits and seemingly laid-back approach to the style being heavily documented from magazines to blogs and even the news. The Duchess has never shied away from wearing pieces on multiple occasions, something relatively unheard of in the world of celebrity, and has also frequently worn outfits which are or at least seem to be inspired by fellow fashion icon Princess Diana.

Needless to say, Pakistan (and the globe’s) fashion and style-obsessed will be keeping their eyes on the royals to see what looks they produce and whether or not they will be wearing some Pakistani designers.
