Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim has been rector of Hail University since July 2011.
He began his academic career in 1983 as a lecturer at King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh. He became an assistant professor, then an associate professor, then head of the department of archaeology and museums.
During his tenure at KSU, Al-Ibrahim co-founded the Gulf History and Archaeology Society, and the General Union of Arab Archaeologists.
A royal decree appointed him as a full member of the Shoura Council in 2005.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Tourism and Archaeology at KSU. He completed his Ph.D. in archaeology at the University of Durham in the UK in 1988.
Al-Ibrahim is an executive member of the board of the Saudi Society for Archaeological Research, and is an active member of the editorial committee of the Seminar for Arabian Studies, based in London.
He is editor-in-chief of Adumatu, a refereed journal on archaeology in the Arab world. He has also published three books and a number of articles in high-profile archaeology journals.
Hail University concluded its participation in the Biban Hail Forum, organized by the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monshaat) from Oct. 2 to 5.
Al-Ibrahim said the university contributed to the forum with various workshops and training courses through its virtual education platform. The university also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Monshaat.
