Esam Al-Thukair has been the vice governor of entrepreneurship advancement at the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monshaat) since November 2017.
Al-Thukair graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems. In 2015, he gained an executive master’s in business administration and management, after which he attended an intensive leadership development program at the Middle East Leadership Academy. He obtained a master’s degree in business administration and management from the Saudi Electronic University in 2016.
Al-Thukair began his career with the Capital Market Authority as a market controller, before he moved to the Saudi Industrial Development Fund in 2005. In 2010, he joined Al-Rajhi Capital as an associate from before earning a promotion in 2012, when he became a treasury representative for Al-Rajhi Bank.
Three years later, he joined Raz Holding Group as a finance director. He worked with Raz until 2017, then spent eight months heading investments for a family business. In November of that year, he took up his current position. Al-Thukair is also a board member of Al-Naqool for Readymix & Blocks and the Global Investment House.
Recently, King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) hosted a graduation ceremony in Riyadh to celebrate 20 technological innovations from its students in 2019.
