Philippines’ top diplomat highlights deep-rooted Saudi-Philippine ties in meeting with Shoura Council chief

MANILA: The chairman of the Saudi Shoura Council, Dr. Abdullah Al-Asheikh, who is on an official visit to the Philippines, met Philippines Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. 

During the meeting, the Filipino official praised deep-rooted relations between Riyadh and Manila. He also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the reconstruction of Marawi. 

The foreign secretary thanked the Kingdom for hosting around 1 million Filipino workers and requested an increase in the number of flights between the two countries to enhance mutual ties.

Al-Asheikh appreciated the foreign secretary for his generous hospitality and warm welcome accorded to him.

He also commended the efficiency of Filipino workers in the Kingdom and praised their role in the development of Saudi Arabia. Al-Asheikh said the Saudi government attaches great importance to the Filipinos and workers from other countries.
