Saud Fahd Al-Suwailem has been the Saudi ambassador to Vietnam since February 2019.
Recently, Al-Suwailem received the guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Guests Program for Hajj and Umrah for this year’s Hajj season.
He welcomed them in Hanoi with traditional Saudi warmth, bearing gifts and taking photos with them to commemorate the beginning of their spiritual journey.
Al-Suwailem obtained his bachelor’s degree in sociology from King Saud University in Riyadh.
He also has a diploma in foreign relations and international cooperation from Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARDO), and a second diploma in international diplomatic and consular law.
He began his diplomatic career in 1992 when he worked for the Saudi Embassy in Rabat, Morocco. He moved on to act as the director of the ambassador’s office for the Saudi Embassy in Damascus, Syria, in 1997.
Al-Suwailem also served as director of the office for the undersecretary for economic and cultural affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2002, he became the head of Islamic affairs at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, and four years later, he was appointed as the deputy consul at the Saudi Embassy in Alexandria.
He has served as head of international organizations department at the Saudi Embassy in London in 2011 and was later appointed as the charge d’affaires of Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in the UAE before he finally became the Saudi ambassador to Vietnam.
