Meem, the retail banking arm of Gulf International Bank (GIB), has won two industry accolades from the Global Banking & Finance Awards. It has been named “Best Shariah Compliant Digital Bank KSA 2019” and “Most Innovative Digital Banking Initiative Bahrain 2019.”
The awards, presented by Global Banking & Finance Review, were given in recognition of Meem’s “dedication and standout performance in providing leadership and excellence in digital banking.”
Meem was launched in Saudi Arabia in January 2015, making its mark as the first Shariah-compliant digital bank in the region. It began its operations in Bahrain in March 2018.
Meem’s performance was measured and scored according to the following factors: Investment in technology, innovative product offerings such as OnePack, first digital bank in Saudi Arabia to offer a multi-currency card, 24/7 customer support, and strategic vision, strong risk management and leadership.
