RIYADH: The mortgage electronic authentication service, launched by the Justice Ministry three months ago, has completed more than 13,600 e-authentications.
The ministry reported that there were 3,409 electronic applications for vacating property, 8,776 mortgage update applications, and 3,754 requests to issue duplicate mortgages in cases of loss or damage.
The new service guarantees beneficiaries the option of transferring ownership of their property using the electronic mortgage within an hour without any charge.
The launch of e-authentications came in response to the digital transformation in documentation announced by Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani earlier this year.
This service, which is available to all, allows the beneficiary to verify the validity and effectiveness of a mortgage before visiting the notary.
The system comes as part of the unified services page provided by the ministry for registering and vacating property.
The page offers a number of electronic services, including applying for vacating property, which eliminates about 70 percent of the usual procedures.
The ministry also launched a service for updating a mortgage to an e-mortgage. The request is submitted as an e-mortgage with other documents, and when the request is complete, the beneficiary is notified to collect the e-mortgage.
The mortgage electronic authentication service can be accessed via the ministry’s website (www.moj.gov.sa).
