DUBAI: Lebanese actress Nadine Njeim, a former Miss Lebanon, surprised followers of the show “Khamsa w Nos” (Five and a Half) by actually shaving her long hair for the last episode.
Njeim posted the video from the episode on social media on Tuesday showing her shaved head, which she said she did in solidarity with young cancer patients.
The video shows Njeim coming out of Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) with a shaved head, greeting young cancer patients.
“It’s true that beauty is important, and we all wish to always look beautiful, but too often we forget that beauty comes from within,” Njeim said in the video. “Yes, I let go of my hair, but the question is, what changed? Nothing, I am still the same person,” she added.
In her post, she thanked St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Tennessee, which is affiliated with CCCL. St. Jude was founded by Lebanese American comedian and actor Danny Thomas in 1962.
Many on social media applauded her move, including Lebanese A-list designer Zuhair Murad and Lebanese influencer Lana El-Sahely.
The video was also shared by the Twitter page of Middle East broadcaster MBC4, a channel tailored for women and young Arab families.
In the series “Khamsa w Nos,” Njeim plays the role of Dr. Bayan Necmettin, who is married to Ghamr, played by Syrian actor Kosai Khauli.
