LuLu, one of the region’s top retailers, has introduced its first-ever mini market concept at the National Guard housing site located in Al-Mubarraz in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province. The newly launched shop was inaugurated in a ceremony held on May 2 by Aoodah Alenazi, commander for Al-Ahsa National Guard, in the presence of Shehim Mohammed, director of LuLu Hypermarkets Saudi Arabia, government officials and other dignitaries.
The store opening is the kickoff project for the agreement signed between LuLu and Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) forces in November 2018, under which two shopping centers and seven supermarkets in Dammam and Al-Ahsa will be launched.
“We thank the SANG forces for trusting us with providing them a conducive shopping place for the families residing in the area. The new store is committed to bringing the best products at the most affordable prices, just like what the LuLu Hypermarket brand is well-known for,” said Mohammed.
The mini market is a neighborhood-cum-convenience store concept that brings food and lifestyle essentials closer to residential communities. The store is divided into categories of high-quality products, such as groceries, health and beauty, chilled and dairy food, frozen goods, fruits and vegetables, bakery, roastery, meat, sports and fitness, and much more.
The new store is expected to generate employment opportunities for the Saudi youth. LuLu Group currently employs more than 2,700 Saudi nationals, including females in various hypermarkets across the Kingdom. LuLu’s goal is to give employment to more than 5,000 nationals by the end of 2020.
Yusuff Ali M.A., chairman of LuLu Group, praised the various innovative steps taken under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Hailing the recently announced residency scheme — officially known as “Privileged Iqama,” he said: “(It is) a landmark decision that is sure to make Saudi Arabia a global financial and economic hub and will help to bring in huge investments from all over the world. This will attract and retain global professionals and experts to this great country and also boost the employment generation for Saudi nationals, who are very well-educated and trained to take on any new challenges.”
With 169 stores operating worldwide, LuLu aims to provide and sustain the supply of global products at the best rates. It is one of the favorite shopping destinations of both locals and expatriates in the Kingdom.
LuLu is the fastest growing retail chain across 10 countries that include the GCC, India, Egypt, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
