AL-AHSA: Traditional arts and crafts created in the city of Al-Ahsa are being showcased at the International Handicrafts and Folk Arts Forum, which began on Thursday in Suzhou, China.
“Al-Ahsa is participating as a member of the global network of creative cities, which includes 37 cities from around the world, through displaying a number of its handicraft products and holding creative activities in this domain, in addition to showcasing Al-Ahsa’s experience in preserving this national heritage,” said Al-Ahsa Mayor Adel bin Mohammed Al-Mulhim.
Panel discussion
He added that the forum will include a panel discussion about ways in which communication between cities that are members of the network can be enhanced, and how culture and creativity can contribute to the achievement of UN sustainable development goals, which complement the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy in terms of strengthening Saudi Arabia’s international role.
Al-Mulhim said that the forum offers creative cities an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, and that Al-Ahsa municipality is keen to strengthen its social role by enhancing the services it provides to craftsmen and involving them in festivals and other events. The city’s creative community places it among the most creative in the world, he added.
