Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa has been chairman of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission’s board of directors since Dec. 27, 2018, when he also became an adviser at the Saudi Royal Court with the rank of minister.
He has also been an adviser and board member of the Misk Foundation (established by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to develop and empower Saudi youth) since 2011, and the following year was appointed vice chairman of the board of directors of Riyadh Schools.
Al-Issa served as Saudi Arabia’s minister of education from December 2015 to Dec. 27, 2018.
He gained a bachelor’s degree in literature from King Saud University in Riyadh in 1983, a master’s degree in education, curriculum and teaching from the same university in 1989, a Ph.D. in the same field from Pennsylvania State University in 1993, and completed a leadership program at Oxford University, in the UK, in 2009.
He previously served as dean of Al-Yamamah University in Riyadh between 2003 and 2008 and became its director between 2008 and 2009. He was a full-time adviser for the Al-Yamamah University project between 2002 and 2003.
Iraqi minister of higher education and scientific research and acting minister of education, Dr. Qusay Abdul Wahab Al-Suhail, visited the Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission on Thursday where he was received by Al-Issa and president of the Education Evaluation Commission, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Mashari.
During the meeting, they discussed joint cooperation initiatives on education and other issues of common interest.
