JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has expressed the Kingdom's support for France and its people after the huge fire that gutted Notre Dame.

A huge blaze tore through the historic cathedral in Paris on Monday. The building is widely regarded as the soul of France.

The statement from Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry was the latest international gesture towards France after the devastating fire.

On Wednesday evening, Cathedral bells rang out across France at the exact time the blaze struck the 850-year-old gothic masterpiece.
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced that architects would be invited to submit designs to replace the collapsed spire.
Investigators, meanwhile, were given their first access to the top of the cathedral to begin their probe into the cause of the blaze.
