As president and CEO of the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC), Fahad Al-Sudairi leads the largest utility company in the Middle East and North Africa region. SEC is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, Al-Sudairi was a featured speaker at the inaugural Saudi Energy Forum (SEF) in Riyadh, organized by information consultancy Gulf Intelligence and attended by an estimated 400 representatives of the Saudi energy and mining sectors.

The conference served to strengthen links between energy authorities with the goal of adapting to the opportunities and challenges that the present-day energy industry offers.

Al-Sudairi obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota in 1983, after which he started his career with the Saudi American Bank (now Samba Financial Group) and continued in the banking sector for a decade holding various key roles in several banks.

In June 1994, he joined SEC as a senior accountant in the finance department. Al-Sudairi worked his way through the ranks to become executive vice president and chief financial officer, responsible for managing corporate finances and leading the company’s strategic transformation.

The SEC board of directors appointed Al-Sudairi as acting company president and CEO in November 2018. He also serves on a number of other boards including as acting chairman at Dawiyat Telecom Co. and as a board member of the Saudi Power Procurement Co. (SPPC).
