King Salman orders Eastern Province prisoner release

JEDDAH: King Salman on Monday ordered the release of prisoners being held in the Eastern Province on financial charges.

Inmates whose cases are non-criminal and with debts of less than SR1 million ($266,655) will be set free and their dues fully paid, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The king also hosted a number of dignitaries in the Eastern Province as he continued his visit to the region. In attendance was Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif and his deputy Prince Ahmad bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz.

The audience also included Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid, Prince Mansour bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz, Prince Talal bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of State and Cabinet member Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of the Saudi National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, and a number of other princes and senior civil and military officials.
