King Salman concludes Tunisia state visit as Arab Summit ends
  • The King led the Saudi delegation at the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis
  • He also met with UN chief Antonio Guterres, Bahrain's deputy PM, among others

TUNIS: King Salman on Sunday met Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa on the sidelines of the Arab Summit in Tunis. 

During the meeting, they reviewed fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and discussed a number of issues.

The king also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. They reviewed the latest regional developments and discussed ways to achieve stability and security in the region.

On the sidelines of the summit, the king also met Abdelkhader Bensalah, president of the Council of the Nation of Algeria. The king wished Algeria stability. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral ties.

The meetings were attended by Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, State Minister and Cabinet member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Commerce and Investment Minister Dr. Majib bin Abdullah Al-Qassabi, Media Minister Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah and other senior officials.

After leading the Saudi delegation at the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis, the king concluded his state visit on Sunday. He was seen off by Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed at the presidential airport in Tunis.

A number of senior officials of the Saudi Embassy in Tunis, including Ambassador Mohammed bin Mahmoud Al-Ali, were also present at the airport.

Following his departure from Tunisia, King Salman sent a cable of thanks to Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.

In the cable, the king expressed his appreciation of the Tunisian president for the warm welcome and hospitality afforded to him and the accompanying delegation during his state visit. 

He said: “This visit and talks held with the Tunisian president affirmed the extent of the depth of relations between the two countries in addition to the joint desire to promote them in all fields.”

The king stressed that the visit renewed the bonds of brotherhood and love between the two nations. He also hailed the positive outcome of the 30th Arab Summit concluded in Tunis. The king wished the Tunisian president and people happiness, steady progress and prosperity.
