Saudi businessman Saleh Al-Turki has been the mayor of Jeddah since July 27, 2018.
Speaking at the Makkah Region Economic Forum, Al-Turki said that Jeddah is planning to establish projects worth SR4.6 billion ($1.2 billion) to improve quality of life.
Authorities in Jeddah have made better living conditions for the city’s citizens a priority through initiatives such as improved infrastructure, Al-Turki said.
Al-Turki is a delegated member of Jeddah Holding Co., president and chairman of Nesma Holding Co., president of Mawaddah International Group, Asdaq and the Jeddah head of Al-Birr charity organization.
He attained a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the American University of Beirut, and a master’s degree in the same subject from California State University.
Prior to becoming mayor of Jeddah, Al-Turki held a number of positions including president of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, president of the Council of Saudi Chambers, and member of Makkah Regional Council.
Al-Turki has received a number of accolades, including the King Salman Young Entrepreneur Award and the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Award for Services to Charity Works.
He has served in trade for more than 35 years, achieving record successes by building more than 47 companies operating in all fields of the service and contracting sectors.
