JEDDAH: The Arab world faced “highly dangerous and serious challenges” that could only be tackled through unity and solidarity, Arab Parliament Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami has warned.
In his opening speech to the Parliament’s plenary session in Cairo on Tuesday, Al-Salami described conflicts in some Arab countries as “a threat to territorial integrity and people’s security.”
“An effective Arab vision maintains the security and stability of Arab countries and serves the interests of the people,” he said.
He reaffirmed the Parliament’s support for the Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen and said: “We need to address the risk of external intervention by some regional and international countries in our internal affairs and stand up to the abominable terrorist schemes that target the unity and safety of Arab countries and societies.”
