Holy Qur’an memorization contest’s young winners announced

RIYADH: The winners of a prestigious Holy Qur’an memorization competition for children with disabilities on Monday were revealed.
Under the patronage of Princess Hussa bint Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Prince Sultan bin Salman Contest for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an concluded its 23rd session at the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA) headquarters.
A total of 2,384 youngsters from throughout the Kingdom and GCC countries took part in the competition, and the winners’ names were announced at a special presentation ceremony attended by many mothers of the children.
Congratulating the winners, Princess Hussa expressed her happiness and pride at being part of the occasion. “Since its inception, this contest has enjoyed the unwavering support and patronage of King Salman,” she added.
She said the “blessed evening inundates the human soul with tranquility and peace,” and expressed her honor at being among the “elite group of sisters” involved in the organization of the contest.
Princess Hussa stressed that the Kingdom was the beacon of Islam, and was committed to supporting the memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Qur’an.
“All Saudi private and public institutions in our country are contributing today to this approach, including this prestigious association (DCA) that has chosen to serve Islam by organizing this annual Qur’an memorization contest,” the princess added.
“Each one of us has a challenge in life they need to overcome. However, God Almighty bestowed upon us the gift of the Holy Qur’an to illuminate our path and make it easier,” said Princess Hussa. “I therefore congratulate and take pride in those kids for competing and excelling in a field that draws Muslims to their God.”
She also congratulated teachers and parents for their contribution to the process, and expressed her thanks to Prince Sultan, the chairman of the DCA’s board of directors, and association staff for organizing the contest.
Princess Hussa praised the mothers of the children for encouraging their participation in educational activities that help with their integration into society.
Dr. Majida Baysar, a DCA board member, thanked the children for “drawing a smile of hope on our faces” with their memory feats. She also expressed her appreciation to the youngsters’ mothers and teachers for promoting patience, awareness, positive thinking, and hope toward building better human beings.
Baysar also thanked Prince Sultan for launching the contest and Princess Hussa for her patronage.
At the end of the ceremony, one of the participants presented Princess Hussa with a commemorative gift on behalf of the DCA and the awards secretariat.
