JEDDAH: The Houthis’ continued defiance and “circumvention” of the Stockholm agreement is a stark challenge to the international community, Saudi Arabia's Cabinet said Tuesday.
The Iran-backed militia is misleading international organisations with false information and data, disrupting relief efforts, and looting humanitarian aid, the Cabinet said during its weekly meeting.
The Cabinet denounced the Houthi's reluctance to adhere to the Stockholm agreement and the militia's violations of it.
The war in Yemen between the Houthis and troops loyal to the internationally-recognized government began in 2014 when the militia seized the capital Sanaa. The war escalated in March 2015, when President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi fled into Saudi exile and the Arab coalition intervened.
The conflict has unleashed the world's worst humanitarian crisis, according to the UN, which says 14 million Yemenis are on the brink of famine.
