Nasser Sulaiman Al-Nasser has been Group CEO at Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) since February 2018 and its chief operating officer since January 2015.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry and the establishment of the mobile network and its extensions. His career started in the 1990s when he played an active role in STC GSM network expansions across the Kingdom.
Before joining STC, Al-Nasser was the chief technology officer of Etihad Etisalat Co. between 2007 and 2015. His responsibilities included setting the strategies related to convergence and new technologies, planning and implementing smart networks, and leading business activities such as budgeting.
He also worked at the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) between 2003 and 2005 as technical standards and numbering director.
Al-Nasser holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from King Saud University in Riyadh. He was recently elected as a board member of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA).
The GSMA board has 26 members, including 25 operator representatives from the world’s largest operator groups. It announced the election of new board members for two years from January 2019 to December 2020.
Al-Nasser said that electing STC as a member of GSMA board is an important achievement for the Kingdom’s communications sector. The membership will enhance the Kingdom’s influence on the international and regional policies regulating the communications sector, he said.
