Saudi team wins first prize at eSports world championship

JEDDAH: The Saudi eSports team has won the first prize in the Tekken 7 competition at the 10th edition of the IESF Esports World Championship in Taiwan. Sari Al-Jafari won against his Japanese counterpart with a 5 to 4 score.

This was the first participation for the Saudi teams in this world championship. The team was ranked second in terms of performance, competing with 38 international teams. The Saudi teams competed in the Tekken 7 and League of Legends competitions.

Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, chairman of the Saudi Federation of Electronic and Intellectual Sports, thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their interest in the development of sports

He also thanked the chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh for his support and follow-up.

Prince Faisal said that the achievements of Saudi Arabia in eSports was not surprising and Saudi champions were now competing in all international forums.
