ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Finance Minister Asad Umar met on Thursday with a visiting Saudi delegation and discussed strengthening bilateral economic ties, the Finance Ministry said.
The six-member delegation was led by Ahmad Agil Al-Khateeb, chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and adviser to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Saeed Al-Malkiy, was present at the meeting, during which swift implementation of SFD projects was discussed.
The two sides signed three memorandums of understanding for health and education projects in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. The projects are valued at $16.1 billion.
Al-Khateeb’s visit follows that of Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia on Sept. 18, the latter’s first foreign trip since becoming Pakistan’s prime minister.
Pakistan government expects large Chinese and Saudi investments to support its cash-strapped economy as the country also weighs its options of availing an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout plan.
