Dr. Hamad bin Suleiman Al-Bazai is the deputy finance minister of Saudi Arabia.
Recently, he led his country’s delegation at the 102nd meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council in Cairo.
The council warned of the negative repercussions that would result from scrapping financial assistance to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), calling instead for increasing support for the organization to enable the Palestinian people to survive the Israeli occupation.
Al-Bazai also serves as an executive director at the Islamic Development Bank, a multilateral development financing institution in Jeddah. He served as the vice chairman of the Gulf International Bank until 2015, and was its director from 1999 to 2015.
He is also a member of the preparatory committee of the Supreme Petroleum Council and a board member of the Human Resources Development Fund, the Southern Region Cement Company and the Higher Education Fund. He has also been director of Alinma Bank since 2016.
Al-Bazai holds a bachelor’s degree in administrative sciences from King Saud University, Riyadh, and a master’s and PhD in economics from Colorado State University in the US.
Al-Bazai last year conferred honor upon 53 employees from the staff of the ministry who passed the first phase of Qudratak, the basic skills program for computer applications and electronic transactions, which was implemented by the e-Government program Yesser.
