RIYADH: The Moroccan Embassy in Riyadh held a reception to celebrate 19 years since the accession of King Mohammed VI on Monday.
The reception was attended by the secretary of the Riyadh, Tarek Al-Fares, and prominent local personalities from business, culture and media, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Moroccan community in Saudi Arabia.
In a speech, Morocco’s Ambassador to the Kingdom Mustafa Al-Mansouri highlighted the ties of allegiance that link the Moroccan people to the monarchy, which is deeply rooted in Morocco’s history.
He also discussed the strong Moroccan-Saudi relations, adding that the support of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman, was much appreciated.
“We note and cherish the firm and strong principled position of Saudi Arabia, which supports the territorial unity of Morocco, which has never ceased, and which represents a position cherished by the Moroccan people.
“In the diplomatic sphere, the Kingdom of Morocco has remained faithful to the general principles governing its foreign policy and strategic options. Morocco has endeavored to diversify its foreign relations and develop them with its traditional partners; it has spared no effort in supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, toward its brothers and strategic partners, especially Palestine.”
The ceremony included a video presentation showcasing the achievements of Morocco during King Mohammed VI’s reign and the Kingdom’s potential in the fields of economy, tourism and cultural enrichment.
Guests at the celebration enjoyed traditional Moroccan food and music.
