JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has opened eight new development projects in Yemen as part of the Kingdom’s ambitious rebuilding program in the strife-torn republic.
Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, who is also supervisor of the Saudi Program for the Reconstruction, laid the foundation stones for the projects in Al-Mahra Governorate in the presence of Yemeni President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The projects will create job opportunities among the Yemeni people.
Hadi praised Saudi Arabia, saying that although the Kingdom was aware of the “magnitude of risks and troubles” facing Yemen, it had been the first country to support the republic’s drive for reconstruction.
“Today, we are opening a number of important development projects, in various fields of service and education, within the framework of the development and reconstruction program, all of which point to the sincere spirit as the Kingdom is looking at to the brothers in Yemen,” Hadi said.
He thanked Saudi Arabia’s leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support and said the Kingdom’s “historic positions will not be forgotten by the Yemenis.”
Al-Jaber said that the Kingdom “will continue to find and create hope for the Yemeni people by implementing effective projects that meet their needs, as well as continuing efforts to restore security and stability, and combat terrorism.”
