Flyadeal, Saudi Arabia’s low-fare airline, this week celebrated a major milestone by organizing a surprise event for its 1 millionth passenger at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on July 23 — exactly 10 months since the airline launched operations on last year’s National Day, Sept. 23, 2017.
On July 23, Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak was the millionth passenger of flyadeal traveling from Riyadh to Jeddah to accompany his wife and children on their flight back home from Jeddah. It was his fourth trip as a regular flyadeal passenger.
Hours before the arrival of the millionth passenger, flyadeal representatives roamed the terminal carrying a sign that read “Are you the millionth?” To prompt the curiosity of onlookers, they also tested a sparkling purple jacket on randomly selected travelers to “check” if they were the millionth.
When Al-Mubarak arrived, he was surprised at the check-in gate with a fun reception that brought a smiles to his face.
Subsequently, he was given a red carpet reception all the way to the departures hall where he was greeted by flyadeal CEO Con Korfiatis, Riyadh Airport management team and other travelers. During the ceremony, Korfiatis handed Al-Mubarak a SR25,000 ($6,665) voucher to use in his future trips on flyadeal.
“When I arrived at the airport, I had no idea what a wonderful surprise was in store. This is a special occasion in flyadeal’s history and it gives me great pleasure to be a part of it,” Al-Mubarak said.
“I’ve flown flyadeal a number of times since it launched last year. They are really making a difference. Their low fares have made it convenient for everyone in the Kingdom to take a flight. And their smiling service is the icing on the cake! I’d like to thank flyadeal for the voucher I’ve received, and I can’t wait to fly to international destinations with them whenever they get started!”
Korfiatis said: “This celebration is not just about our millionth passenger, who is very special, but also the other 999,999 customers whose trust and confidence in flyadeal has allowed us to achieve this milestone. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for giving us the opportunity to bring everyday low fares to the Kingdom. I would also like to thank our industry partners who have actively supported and contributed to the success of our operations.”
Director General of King Khalid International Airport, Sulaiman Al-Teraif, congratulated the 1 millionth passenger.
