JEDDAH: Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation on Friday praised Saudi measures to combat piracy and protect intellectual property rights, stressing its rejection of any piracy or illegal broadcast that contradicts the laws and regulations of each country.
The council condemned Qatar’s attempts to involve Saudi Arabia in the case of the beoutQ channel, which is accused of illegally broadcasting World Cup matches in the Middle East. The council also expressed its understanding of the Saudi ban on beIN SPORTS, a network of sports channels owned and operated by beIN Media Group, a spinoff of Qatar’s Al Jazeera Media Network.
